This is how we operate on the Porosalmi outdoor route
The usage of the outdoor route is always at your own risk and insurance. On the route, you are always responsible for the safe use of your own or rented equipment, and take into account the effects of weather conditions (water, snow, ice, wind, frost, slipperiness, heat, etc.). Every man’s rights both justify and oblige: All people whether residing in Finland or just visiting have the right to enjoy nature anywhere in the Finnish countryside regardless of land ownership. The legal concept of “Everyman’s Right” in Finland extends immense freedom to roam but comes with some serious responsibilities.
It is the responsibility of the outdoor route user to respect nature, soil, plants, and animals and to not litter the nature. The Public Order Act requires you to keep your pets on a leash. A faster mover always avoids slower movers; for example, a cyclist always avoids pedestrians. Winter cycling is allowed during the snow-covered period everywhere except on cross country ski trails. Cycling on the trails also poses a safety risk. Lighting a fire is only allowed at built and marked fireplaces. Do not light a fire when a forest or grass fire warning is in effect.
Please see the valid warnings: www.ilmatieteenlaitos.fi.
If you have an emergency during your trip, such as getting lost, getting injured, or detecting a wildfire, call the general emergency number 112 and make an emergency report. In minor cases, you can call the Järvisydän reception on 0600 413 160 (0,65€/min + operator fees). Let’s enjoy hiking in nature!
